We help sport put sustainability into practice.

SandSI is the global community where sport organisations, practitioners and experts share what actually works — and where the sector’s evidence reaches the people who write policy. Independent, non-profit, working towards a sport sector that operates sustainably by 2050.

Vision

A sport sector that runs within the planet’s limits.
Accountable for its environmental and social impact. Trusted by the people it serves. Using its extraordinary cultural reach to move society forward rather than trading on it. By 2050, sustainability is not a programme inside sport — it is simply how sport works.

Mission

We build the community that gets sport there.
We connect sustainability practitioners across federations, clubs, leagues and consultancies so they stop solving the same problems alone. We give them access to expert knowledge, practical tools and training. And we carry the evidence they generate into the rooms where sport policy is decided.

Our Goals

Connect

We bring sport sustainability practitioners together across federations, clubs, leagues and consultancies — through peer-to-peer communities of practice, online sessions, and our in-person community gathering, next held in Lausanne on 9–10 December 2026 with SPIN Sport Innovation.

Facilitate

We open access to a trusted network of expert consultants and run practical training: sustainability leadership webinars, certification, and the monthly BOOST Your Social Impact seminar series — from writing a purpose statement to building a visual identity for a sport organisation.

Advocate

We represent the sport sustainability community at EU and UN level, contributing position papers and evidence to global sport and climate policy processes — so practice informs policy, and policy is something the sector can realistically meet.

Influence

We run multi-country projects that build climate, biodiversity, governance and social impact into how sport actually operates — five since 2022, delivered with partners across Europe and co-funded by Erasmus+.

Our Work

Five international projects since 2022, delivered with partners across Europe. Here is what came out of them.

RISE — Social impact for sport organisations

June 2022 – December 2024 · With SPIN Sport Innovation, TAKT, Opes Italia, Red Deporte and Velcro Dev.

Delivered: the RISE development platform and the RISE Quality Label, helping organisations assess their needs and align their work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

ZERO — Climate action in snowboarding

March 2023 – February 2026 · Led by the World Snowboard Federation.

Delivered: a climate education course, a card game, and a collection of good practice and recommendations for the sport.

City, Green, Go! — Eco-friendly events in cities
